During my stay in Taipei, I took time to visit the Yeliu Geopark in Xinbei city. During the trip planning, I found that I could only choose one of Tanshui and Yeliu. I gave up Tanshui because I loved the natural landscape (in fact, it might be difficult to see the beautiful sunset at the fisherman's Wharf due to the weather on that day) and chose Yeliu. What kind of magic does this strange park have? From Taipei to Yeliu, I took Guoguang bus. Very convenient. Yeliu scenic area, referred to as Yeliu (from Spanish: Punto) Diablos is located in yeliuli, Wanli District, Xinbei City, Taiwan. It is a famous scenic spot on the north coast of Taiwan. This area is the remaining vein of Datun mountain, stretching out from the headland in the East China Sea, about 1700 meters long and 250 meters wide. Because of weathering and sea erosion, the rocks here are extremely skillful, among which "Queen's head", "fairy shoes" and "Candlestick stone" are the most famous.

Yeliu scenic area, referred to as Yeliu (from Spanish: Punto) Diablos is located in yeliuli, Wanli District, Xinbei City, Taiwan. It is a famous scenic spot on the north coast of Taiwan. Mainly the peculiar natural landscape.

From the entrance of Yeliu Geopark to the end of the headland, the length is about 1.7 km, and the widest place during this period is less than 300 meters. It is about 2.4 km long from Yeliu station of fund highway to the end of headland. The strange rock in Yeliu Geopark is one of the wonders of the world. In the first area, we can see the development process of mushroom rock, and there are abundant ginger stone, cleavage, pot hole and dissolution plate. The famous Candlestick stone and ice cream stone are also located in this area. The landscape of the second area is similar to that of the first area, which is mainly composed of mushroom rock and ginger stone, but the quantity is less than that of the first area. The famous Queen head, dragon head stone and diamond are all located in this area. In the second area, close to the seaside, there are three kinds of rocks with special shapes, named elephant stone, fairy shoes and peanut stone. The three are special shaped nodules in the rock strata, which protrude from the small landscape of the seaside after seawater erosion. The third area is the sea erosion platform on the other side of Yeliu, which is narrower than the second area. One side of the platform is close to the cliff, and under the other side is the surging waves. Many strange rocks can be seen here during the period of scattering. Among them, the more special ones are twenty-four Xiaoshi, Zhushi and malingniao stone, all of which are special shaped nodules. After seawater erosion, they present strange rocks. In addition to the natural scenery of strange rocks and rocks, the third area is also an important ecological conservation area in Yeliu Geopark.

Queen's head, the symbol of Yeliu, is a kind of mushroom rock. In the process of crustal uplift, it gradually formed today's appearance due to the differential erosion of sea water. Based on the average rising speed of the earth crust in Northern Taiwan, the Queen's head is nearly 4000 years old. In fact, the Queen's head is mushroom rock. From 1962 to 1963, because of the fracture of joints on the top tubercle, it looks like Queen Elizabeth's head from a certain angle, so it got its name.

Such a special shape has made the Queen's head a landmark of Yeliu since then, but it has also suffered from its fame. In addition to the perennial wind, sun and rain, the touch of tourists also accelerates the erosion rate. At present, the narrowest part of the neck circumference is only 142 cm.

Near the entrance of the sea erosion platform, under the action of weathering, carved out the shape of giant birds and beasts of the strange stone, looking back and overlooking.

It is said that there was a Dutch sailing boat wrecked off Yeliu and drifted to the Bay in front of lover's cave. At that time, all the crew members were killed, and the birds on the boat still kept calling for help on the rocks until they died, so they named it marine Bird, a seafaring bird.

The roasted chicken leg and three bangbangbang legs are located beside the dragon head stone near the coast. Looking from the dragon head stone to the coast, you can find that there is a big chicken leg on the stone, and there are traces of grilled iron net on it. If you look at it more, you will have the illusion of fragrant smell. On the right side of the roasted chicken leg, there are three smaller stick shaped ginger stones arranged in parallel, which looks like the stick legs of fried chicken.

It is said that the fairy in the sky came down to earth to collect the demons, wild willow turtles. After that, she accidentally forgot her shoes on the coast. It belongs to a kind of gingerolite. The reason for its formation is that there are relatively hard calcareous rock blocks in the rock layer. The soft rock around these calcareous rock blocks peels off due to long-term washing by sea water. In addition, the strata squeeze out crisscross cracks, leaving the shape of shoes.

Behind the diamond, near the sea, there is a very special shaped nodule. On the top of this nodule, it looks like pineapple bread at first glance because of the development of interlaced joints.

In order to protect these masterpieces of nature and let future generations enjoy these wonders, please do not touch any mushroom rock, ginger stone, tuberculosis and other geological landscapes in the Geopark. Otherwise, every scenic spot will be bitten by a hungry VIP just like this pineapple bread, which is not good.

Yeliu area is located in the subtropical zone, with a mild and humid climate. About half a year, it is under the strong northeast monsoon blowing and wave erosion. Therefore, the weathering process is faster and faster, which not only makes the rocks more colorful, but also produces all kinds of strange rocks and rocks because of the special structure of the underground strata.

When the rock strata in the deep underground are gradually exposed to the earth's surface, the pressure decreases, causing cracks in some rocks. As a result, the contact area between rocks and air and water increases, and the rocks gradually become loose and broken due to the change of internal chemical composition or the physical effect of thermal expansion and cold contraction, and finally become sand, mud and soil, This process is called weathering.

Above the steps in the second area of the Geopark, there is a platform that looks like a large compass. It is a ship speed measuring platform set up by Taiwan Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (later China shipyard company). The ship speed measuring platform is a group of two platforms, about 1.8km apart. Its operation mode is to set up a group of posts on the two platforms respectively, and calculate the ship's speed according to the time between the two platform posts. Because of the high cost of this speed measurement method, the current ship speed measurement method is changed to global positioning system (GPS).

In the early stage, the wild willow has not been established as a scenic spot, which is an open scenic spot, and there are many loopholes in the security management. On March 18, 53, a group of students from Taiwan University came here for an outing; One of them, a Hong Kong Overseas Chinese named Zhang Guoquan, accidentally fell into the sea when taking photos on a big stone by the sea. At that time, Lin Tianzhen, a fisherman selling things nearby, bravely went to the sea to save people despite the bad weather. After some struggle, the two finally drowned. After the story of Lin Tianzhen's sacrifice to save others spread, it moved all walks of life. At that time, Mr. Jiang Zhongzheng went to pay homage to him when he learned about the incident, and ordered to set up a bronze statue and compile textbooks to publicize Lin Tianzhen's heroic deeds.

Overlooking yeliujiao, it is like a turtle lying prone in the sea, so it is also known as "yeliugui".

The strata of Yeliu are mainly composed of inclined bedded sedimentary rocks. The formation of headlands and bays is due to the concave formation of weak rocks after erosion, while the hard and strong anti erodible rocks are relatively prominent to form headlands. Overlooking yeliujiao, it is like a turtle lying prone in the sea, so it is also called "yeliugui". In the early days, Yeliu was a necessary channel for the trade between mainland sailboats and Keelung port. Due to the dangerous sea area, shipwrecks often occurred. Therefore, it is said that in the past there was a turtle spirit lurking in the sea. When the jade emperor heard the news, he ordered the fairy to ride an elephant and come down to earth with a sword. When the fairy arrived at Yeliu, she yelled at the tortoise spirit, "you savage Yeliu tortoise, you've done countless harm. My sword will save you half your life.", The tortoise spirit was seriously injured after being stabbed. When the weather was bad, a stream of white smoke would rise from yeliujiao. When the villagers saw it, they would say, "the half dead yeliugui is breathing again."

Because the joint is perpendicular to the direction of the Cape, the joint surface is eroded by waves and expands into a trench. In Yeliu Geopark, there are many small bridges built to cross these sea erosion gullies.

Next to the second bridge, because of the hardship of fishermen in the early days, tourists often throw copper plates into the sea to test the water quality and courage of local children. In order to earn pocket money, local children dive into the water to pick up copper plates. After geological, weathering and erosion, the mushroom shaped rock of "playful Princess" collapses into a corner at the top. However, it has a distinctive appearance, like the very young queen's head. It has become a new landscape of Yeliu Geopark and has aroused a lot of tourists. There are more than 180 mushroom like rocks in Yeliu Geopark.

Because the nodules in the upper part of the rock contain more calcium carbonate, which is not easy to be weathered, and the neck is composed of sandstone, which is easy to be weathered, the result of differential erosion is the formation of peculiar stones. If you look from the direction of the coast facing the mountain wall, it's like the most popular ice cream in hot summer, but from the direction of the mountain wall facing the coast, the ice cream stone instantly becomes an et that wants to go back to the distant planet.

In the sea erosion platform area, sea water often accumulates on the large flat depressions, which leads to the dissolution of rock mass, resulting in a plate-shaped shallow depression.

Dissolution includes chemical interaction between minerals in rock and sea water, and stripping of cuttings caused by repeated drying and wetting, salt crystallization and weathering. Sometimes, calcium precipitates at the bottom of the plate to form a hard part.

The most peculiar small landscape in the park is the candlestick stone, which is slightly conical and upright on the ground, with a diameter of about 0.5-1 meter. It is thin at the top and thick at the bottom. There is a round nodule containing calcareous matter in the center of the top and a circular groove around it, just like a candlestick.

It is located at the left rear of candlestick stone. The tubercle on the rock looks like fish eyes, so it is called carp stone. The cliff directly opposite the carp stone looks like a parrot lying on the cliff facing the sea.

The ginger stone with special shape looks like a delicious fried chicken leg. The reason for its formation is the same as the roast chicken leg and three Bangbang legs near Longtoushi in the second district.

There are two groups of mushroom like rocks on the sea erosion platform of Yeliu. There is a thick spherical rock on the top and a thin stone column standing below. This kind of rock is called mushroom like rock. The most famous mushroom rock in Yeliu is the Queen's head.
